Shaykh Nuh Ha Mim Keller is an American Muslim scholar, author, and Sufi shaykh of the Shadhili order, based in Amman, Jordan. Raised Catholic in the northwestern United States, he studied philosophy and Arabic and embraced Islam in 1977 at Al-Azhar. His English translation of the classical Shafi'i legal manual "Reliance of the Traveller" ('Umdat al-Salik) was the first Islamic legal work in a European language certified by Al-Azhar, and remains a standard reference. He teaches tasawwuf, fiqh, and theology to students worldwide through his suhbas and writings.
