In this lecture delivered in Kulhudhuffushi, Maldives, Sheikh Ismail ibn Musa Menk explores the reality of differences in Islamic understanding — from the very first generation of humankind through to the companions of the Prophet ﷺ — arguing that diversity of opinion is a divinely ordained feature of human creation, not a source of division and hatred. Drawing on Quranic stories, the Seerah, and examples from the four rightly-guided caliphs, he calls Muslims to engage their differences with wisdom, restraint, and mercy, while firmly rejecting vigilante violence and emphasizing the importance of scholarly authority in matters of law. The lecture is an earnest plea for Muslims to embody compassion toward all of humanity as the foundation of true Dawah.
