28:08The Right Path for Muslims Today?
About this lecture
In this wide-ranging lecture, the speaker examines three paradigms that have defined the Muslim response to colonization — capitulation, rigid traditionalism, and a dynamic third path — with a particular focus on the life and legacy of the reformist scholar Rashid Ridha. The lecture explores the strengths and limitations of textually rigid Islam, the necessity of distinguishing between divine revelation and human legal interpretation, and how figures like Rashid Ridha, Hasan al-Banna, al-Albani, and Qardawi all trace their intellectual lineage to the same source. Attendees are challenged to think critically about which paradigm best honors the universality and relevance of Islam in the modern world.
