Dr. Zara Khan is an educator and researcher born in Frankfurt, Germany, and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She earned her MA and PhD with distinction in Political Theory and Comparative Politics from the City University of New York Graduate Center, writing her dissertation on Islam, human rights, and universality. She has served as Director of Research in Contemporary Thought and Politics at the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research, taught political science at Lehigh University, CUNY, and West Chester University, and writes on decolonial thought, the waqf tradition, and Islamic responses to secular modernity.
