Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam al-Kawthari is a British Hanafi jurist and one of the most prominent muftis in the Western world. He memorized the Qur'an as a child, completed the 'alimiyyah program in the UK, and pursued advanced studies in fiqh and iftaa in Pakistan under Mufti Taqi Usmani and in Syria. He is the founder and director of the Institute of Islamic Jurisprudence (Darul Iftaa) in Leicester, England, and the author of respected works on Islamic law including books on marriage, business, and medical ethics. His fatwas and lectures are relied upon by English-speaking Muslims worldwide.
