Shaykh Nazim Mangera grew up in Toronto, Canada and at the tender young age of 13, Shaykh Nazim went from Toronto, Canada to Dewsbury, England to complete the traditional memorization of the Quran and the Islamic scholar course. He excelled in his studies which lasted for nearly 11 years. In his final year of studies, out of a class of 56 students, he was tied for first place. During this period of 11 years, he studied and received Ejaazas for all 10 major forms of Quranic Recitation (Qiraat), and all the major books of Hadith: Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Abu Daoud, Ibn Majah, Nasa'i, Mishkaat, and Riyad-us-Saaliheen. He also studied with qualified scholars all of the following major Islamic Sciences: Seerah, Tajweed, Nahw, Sarf, Adab, Fiqh, Mantiq, Tareekh, Hadith, Balaagha, Aqeedah, Faraaidh, Tafseer, Usool-ul-Fiqh, Usool-ut-Tafseer, and Usool-ul-Hadith. Since graduation, Shaykh Nazim has worked as a teacher of Islamic Studies and Arabic as well as an Imam at prestigious institutions in cities like Toronto, Chicago and Dallas. In the past few years, Shaykh Nazim initiated and spearheaded two important institutes: a Quranic school in Irving, Texas and a boarding school for Muslim females in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada. He is a well known speaker in community gatherings, universities, colleges and Masjids where he has spoken on a wide range of interesting topics. Shaykh Nazim is a charismatic scholar and is actively involved in various interfaith initiatives. A few weeks ago, Shaykh Nazim delivered a speech on Islam in America at the British Embassy in Manhattan, New York. Alongside his involvement in a number of Islamic community activities, he is also a member of the local interfaith council which meets once every month to exchange ideas between leaders of various faiths. Considering that Shaykh Nazim has visited nearly 15 countries for an extended period of time, he has garnered invaluable experience on how to deal with people of various countries. And considering that Shaykh Nazim has ministered in major North American cities, he has gained extensive experience and practical skills on how to deal with and talk to people of different backgrounds and cultures and genders and age groups and beliefs. Shaykh Nazim has a Masters in Arabic, a Masters in Islamic Studies and a Masters in Islamic Jurisprudence. He recently completed the Mufti course at the local Buffalo seminary. The Shaykh can converse fluently in four different languages. His four brothers are all Huffaz of the Quran and scholars of Islam Alhamdulillah. Currently, Shaykh Nazim is the new Imam and prayer leader at our Masjid Noor. The whole community welcomes Shaykh Nazim Mangera, his wife (who is an Islamic scholar also) and his children to our community.
