American Muslims, Pursuit for Authenticity
About this lecture
In this lecture delivered at an Islamic convention, the speaker calls on American Muslims to claim their rightful place in the religious fabric of America through authentic interfaith engagement. Drawing on 25 years of experience, she addresses the rise of Islamophobia and political threats to Muslim identity, argues for principled interfaith collaboration rooted in mutual respect without compromising Islamic values, and exposes the dangers of faith-washing and creeping normalcy in Muslim-Jewish dialogue. The lecture also previews an upcoming Interfaith Symposium featuring Jewish Voice for Peace and other allies committed to justice for Palestinians and Muslims alike.
