Hamza Yusuf – Striving for the Common Good

About this lecture

In this keynote address delivered at the ISNA annual convention, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf reflects on the importance of institution building in Islam, the deep roots of Muslim presence in American history, and the urgent moral challenges facing both the Muslim community and American society at large. Drawing on Quranic verses, classical scholarship, and contemporary social analysis, he calls on Muslims to become active, principled voices for good — championing ethical consumption, environmental stewardship, financial justice, and unity within the Muslim community while rejecting sectarianism and *takfir*.
