Dr. Tariq Ramadan is a Swiss academic, philosopher, and writer, and one of the most prominent — and debated — Muslim intellectuals in Europe. A grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna, he earned degrees in philosophy and French literature and a PhD in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the University of Geneva, with classical training at Al-Azhar. He served as Professor of Contemporary Islamic Studies at Oxford University and authored influential works including "Western Muslims and the Future of Islam." His career has been marked by both wide influence on European Muslim identity and significant legal controversy in recent years.
