In this lecture, Sheikh Tahir Wyatt explores *al-istiqamah* (steadfastness and uprightness) through the lens of the famous hadith in which the Prophet ﷺ advised a companion to say "I believe in Allah, then be steadfast." He explains that true *iman* demands submission to Allah's commands even without full understanding, and that *istiqamah* means remaining on the path of obedience until death. Drawing extensively from Ibn al-Qayyim's *Tariq al-Hijratayn*, Sheikh Wyatt outlines two practical keys to achieving *istiqamah*: guarding one's thoughts from evil before they grow into action, and sincerely preparing for the meeting with Allah — a preparation that detaches the heart from the dunya and orients it entirely toward His pleasure.

Shaykh Dr. Tahir Wyatt is an American scholar from Philadelphia and one of the most academically credentialed English-speaking Islamic scholars. He studied for roughly two decades in Saudi Arabia, earning multiple degrees including a doctorate from the Islamic University of Madinah, and made history as the first American appointed to teach in the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, where he taught in both Arabic and English. He returned to Philadelphia, where he serves as executive director of the Quran and Sunnah Society and resident scholar at the United Muslim Masjid, and he has served as a senior scholar with Yaqeen Institute. His lectures span aqeedah, hadith, fiqh, and the intellectual defense of Islam.
