Suzy Ismail - The Pain Within

About this lecture

In this deeply personal lecture, Suzy Ismail weaves together her own experiences of loss and hardship — including the death of her newborn daughter — with Quranic stories and a transformative visit to Syrian refugee camps in Jordan. She draws on the story of Khidr and Musa, the dua of Umm Salama, and a chance encounter with a four-year-old orphan named Huda to remind us that overcoming our own pain is inseparable from acknowledging and easing the pain of others. Listeners are encouraged to embrace their emotions, cultivate real companionship, and never underestimate their capacity to be the answer to someone else's dua.
