In this keynote address, Imam Siraj Wahhaj explores what it means to truly know and love the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ by examining his humanity, his extraordinary mercy, and his interactions across cultures, genders, and communities. Drawing on Quranic verses, authentic Hadith, and vivid personal stories, Imam Siraj challenges Muslims to move beyond admiring the Prophet ﷺ and to actively embody his compassion — visiting the sick, covering the faults of others, making Du'a for strangers, and looking beyond the immediate moment with a merciful heart.

Imam Siraj Wahhaj is one of the most influential Muslim leaders in American history. Born in Brooklyn in 1950, he embraced Islam in 1969 and received imam training at Umm al-Qura University in Makkah in 1978. He founded Masjid At-Taqwa in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, where his community became nationally famous for leading anti-drug patrols that transformed the neighborhood. In 1991, he became the first Muslim to offer the opening prayer (du'a) before the United States House of Representatives. A former vice president of ISNA and a founding figure of the Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA), he remains one of the most sought-after speakers in the American Muslim community.
