About this lecture

In this second episode of the Perished Nations series, Sheikh Muhammad Alshareef examines the story of the people of Thamud and their prophet Salih alayhis salam, exploring the miraculous she-camel (Naqatullah), the nine conspirators who killed it, and the devastating punishment that followed. The lecture draws powerful lessons about the dangers of materialism, collective moral indifference, and the tactics used by the elite ruling class (Al-Mala') to suppress truth — with practical guidance on da'wah, gratitude, and what truly protects a nation from Allah's punishment.

Muhammad Alshareef

Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef (1975–2022, rahimahullah) was a Canadian scholar, educator, and pioneer of modern Islamic education in the West. A hafiz of the Qur'an and graduate of the Islamic University of Madinah in Islamic law, he founded AlMaghrib Institute in 2002, which grew into one of the largest Islamic educational institutions in the English-speaking world, teaching hundreds of thousands of students. He later founded DiscoverU, focusing on personal development rooted in faith, and popularized concepts like "Visionaire" life planning and the famous "Du'a: The Weapon of the Believer" seminar. He passed away in 2022, leaving an enormous legacy in Western Islamic education.
