Woohoo! We now support MP3 audio lectures!
Alhamdulillah! Halal Tube will now offer the ability to submit MP3 lectures. Simply go to the submit page and fill out all the information including the URL to the MP3 file. Once we confirm the speaker’s name and the audio format, we’ll post it up.
Look out for future updates. We may plan on allowing users to upload MP3’s.
Until next time, keep praying, reading Qur’an, listening to lectures on Halal Tube, commenting on them and sharing it with everyone you know!
Ma’salaama

I don’t know if this is such a great idea…. will you list the videos and audios separately? will you use different icons for each so before someone clicks on a lecture theyll know what type of media they are clicking on? Will there be different sections for audio and video?
Yes, inshaAllah we will differentiate between video and audio in the future. JazakAllah khair for the advice! 😀
Asalaamualaikum,
If the url of the lecture is of a zip file, is it safe to assume you can’t use it?
Asalaamualaikum,
-Zahid
We would probably unzip and upload the mp3 to our site.
Would you consider accepting any other formats, e.g. ogg, wma, rm/ra, wav et al?
Probably not. We will either convert them to MP3 and host them ourselves or nothing at all.
We use a Adobe Flash player which is the most versatile media player on the web playing video and audio. Almost all computer have that. With other formats, it tends to be a problem for many users to install the required codec, media player, etc. in order to hear the file.
So Adobe Flash Player itself cannot play those formats? Is Adobe’s software using codecs installed on the users system or does it only require Flash installed and handle the decoding on its own?
I’m only asking because many lectures are low quality recordings to begin with, and converting lossy to lossy (i.e., wma -> mp3) usually results in a significant loss of quality.
salaam i was wondering, can i please download these lectures, so i can put them on my ipod, and listen to them instead of sitting in front of my computer.thanks
az: InshaAllah in the future we will implement this option. As of right now we do not have that option.
Answer me!
mujahid7ia: Forgive us, we forgot to reply to your comment. Regarding .wma to .mp3 conversion, if done properly it can be almost the same. Regarding the Adobe Flash issue, all we know is that it can play MP3 files encoded at a speed that is a multiple of 11.025 kHz. If you have any suggestions, then please let us know. JazakAllah khair!
