The site is excellent. It’s a wonder someone didn’t come up with the idea sooner. As mentioned previously, downloading would be a nice plus, but for anyone looking to convert Youtube videos and the like, http://vixy.net/ should work.
The clean layout is one of the strong points and makes it easy to use. I did notice an ad though that said “Was Muhammad a Fraud?”
yes lectures should be made available in mp3 format (i can listen to them from work) but those of us who r in school then it can be difficult to sit in front of comp and listen to them..

Would it be possible to organize lectures based on topic? The Ramadan one was very helpful. For example, Salah, khushoo3, marriage, character…that kinda stuff…

Mariam – The Halal Tube search engine at the top right is excellent for searching for topics. Just type in salah or prayer or aqeedah or iman or beliefs or anything that is related to the topic of interest and some lectures should come up. I agree with you though, Halal Tube should categorize the lectures by topic, which would be interesting to see how they do it.
moneysworthless – Please let us know of any bad advertisements so we can block them permanently from Halal Tube.
Halaltube has opened my eyes to Islamic media. My deen, lifestyle, and knowledge of Islam has increased tenfold since listening to halaltube. I go directly to halaltube before youtube and google videos now.

This is the only site I use now to listen to lectures. Everything is very well organized, and there is a wonderful variety of speakers and topics, masha’Allah.

I was never a youtube fan and I don’t have time to look up lectures online. I did finally attend ISNA this year and my mom and me bought a carry on filled with lectures by various scholars… all amazing mashaAllah! There were some that I couldn’t buy and I was sad, but guess what?!?! They’re all on halaltube! 🙂
I checked out this site a few days before Ramadan after receiving a facebook message from my dear friend at stonybrook…may Allah reward him for sharing this helpful site! There was a list of posts about Ramadan…and how to prepare for Ramadan, how to make the best out of Ramadan…
And now …while I’m at work I just listen to halaltube all throughout the day! Alhamdulilah, I’ve learned so much and there is so much more to learn… endless cycle, from the cradle to the grave. 🙂

As a Christian HalalTube has allowed me to better understand Muslim apologetic arguements. However, I’m still a bit lost when it comes to elemenary Islamic doctrine, is there a good series of lectures introducing Islam for the outsider?

all i have to say is mashALLAH. b4 whenever i wanted to listen to a good lecture i had to search the internet for hours and hours, but since i discovered HALALTUBE, it has totally made life much easier. the greatest lectures by the coolest speakers, all on one site. subhanALLAH…in my opinion the best way to improve on the site would be to add a download feauture.

The video lectures aren’t technically downloadable since they are hosted by YouTube, Google, Yahoo, etc. But their are various online software and plugin for browsers which enables people to download the videos from those sites and others.

may allah bless you all for your work. iam afraid to say that iam a little bit concerned about the advertisement on this website. one one hand you are trying to spread knowledge and the diin of allah and one the other side you are spreading the darkness and lies of some websides wich are popping up on googles adsens on the left side of the content. What about the black banner with the title “Religion runs amok” Are you really in need to promote things like that? i guess the income of google adsens is not worth that and otherwise you dont have the control of what is shown as advertise on adsense. so i will give you the advice to get rid of that and tawakkul al allah.

Iv learnt alot the past 12 months reading many books, but this website has given me the opportunity to listen to some scholars as though I had been able to be present in the lecture. halaltube is extremely helpful. Straight after checkin my emails, you’ll see me browsing through halaltube, not youtube any more, lol. That’s good enough news that shows that halaltube is doing extremeley well, mashallah. I know you guys are doing so much work as it is,,,but can you please add Nouman Ali Khan’s remaining episodes??? Would really appreciate it. Haven’t actually heard of him before I got on to halaltube!! I guess halaltube is also becoming a new platform that makes scholars more well-known, alhamdulillah.
another reason why I like halaltube (one of the main ones really) is that it adds ALL scholars regardless of what their ways of thinking are as I beleive we can benefit from ALL inshallah. No ones being excluded or favouritised, alhamd.

I just found out about HalalTube last week and I LOOOOOVE IIIIIIT!:) It’s easy to use, offers a wealth of knowledge to seekers out there in “cyberspace”, and the speakers featured are so diverse, so you can get views and inspirational knowledge from many perspectives, masha’Allah. And it’s all right there for me, all the speakers…not like just wasting time browsing thru youtube to find something beneficial (and wasting most of my time with dumb videos:P). I have been sharing this site with all my friends in the community here in Colorado!

i want to give one more suggestion. As we muslim have so many questions in our daily life regarding, like how we can follow islam in a right manner, there are so many missconceptions in islam which should be abolished. if any scholar could give right answer from this site, that will be a great help for all muslim.

Salam Wa Alaykum to all. I have now tried to watch a few of Imam’s Sirraj lectures, however they never seem to work due to violation use or 20minutes into it, it advises it currently not available? Brother’s at halal tube, thank you for this bless site it’s had a real positive impact on me and when sharing your link with the others it has had the same effect. Maybe your team can look into this imam’s lectures and possibly fix them or have them removed all together as it’s frustrating to say the least when your 20min into it and it stops work.

i found the website helpful because everything is organised, there is a massive list of lectures and i believe that the information from this website is reliable. it is much safer then youtube as you dont get viewers adding any random stuff on.

by the way, i tried the search feature for the site. i wanted to find all audios on a given topic. but it did not work. so i used the Google search string: “site:www.halaltube.com Umar ibn Abdul Aziz” and it was a more accurate search result. just copy the site:www.halaltube.com for your google search term, add a space, and the topic you want: hajj, ramadan, etc.

As a relatively new Muslim (almost 4 years) Halal Tube has been so beneficial to me especially when preparing for Ramadan. It has helped to increase my eman and basic knowledge of the Deen. Like others have stated it would be great to download these lectures so that we can listen while we travel, but inshallah that will be coming soon.
I look forward to seeing what’s next on Halal Tube.. oh by the way – being able to listen to Quran on this site is also wonderful.

Shiekh Peters – I think these guys are based in America so they are trying to protect themselves. The good ol “tie up your camel”. But you can just google awlaki for his lectures. I’m sure sites that aren’t hosted in America will still have them.

Muslimah, I agree with you 100%. Anwar al-Awlaki’s removal from this website is exactly what the enemies of Islam want. We should support our scholars especially Anwar al-Awlaki because all he preaches is Islam and the way of Rasulullah (pbuh). I disgusts me to know that the enemies of Islam have a major influence on HalalTube. On a more positive note, I trully appreciate the lectures by Yasir Qadhi. Imam Anwar and Imam Yasir are the scholar who will be leading this young muslim generation.

When a Muslim brother is in pain, the whole Ummah should stand for it. The white bull amongst the ones who love life more than unity has been left on his own! Know that with your taking off Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki out of the site, you only expose yourself to the tyranny and disgust of Western powers and Ummah respectively.
And it is no surprise that the true Muslims are actually few and will remain so till The Last Day. You don’t even dare to announce your cowardly act, do you?
As far as the other shuyukhs are concerned, I can always get them from several other sites.

I do not think halaal tube has helped me much, I stumbled upon it from the deen show, then to bayyina.com, then to Nouman Ali khan, then to his lectures on divine speech.
I wanted to learn what was so “miraculous” about the Qur’an. I believe in a god (an intelligent designer/ahad and samad), omniscient, omnipotent god is there.
However, Nouman’s lectures do not convince me of the “divine” nature of the Qur’an. he should focus more on the predictions mentioned in the Qur’an as an audible sign of divinity for generations to come.
He focused too much on the linguistic, historical,archeological,anthropological aspects which are complex to understand for street people or young college students.
he should also mention greek philosophers who existed before Mohamed. Many westerners think that Mohamed “stole” ideas/discoveries/philosophies from the ancient Greeks, and put them all in poetical format into a speech called “qur’an”. As khadijah (his wife) was a rich woman, mohamed could easily contact prominent poets and have them help him write,memorize, practise his lines /speech. In other words, mohamed has fooled us into believing that Qur’an is divine.

At a time when this ummah needs all kinds of vital information, it is no where to be found out of fear for the creation and not for al-Khaliq ‘azza wa jaal. Wa’s-salaamu ‘alaikum.

Why is the lectures of ash-Shaykh Anwar al-‘Awlaqi taken down? Why is it that those who read the lines of shirk from al-Burdah and practice the innovations have 66 lectures put up, yet those who are helping the lions of the ummah, the defenders of the deen…they are left alone and cut out as if they are some disease?
May Allah subhanuhu wa ta’ala help him and others. No-one owns the lectures of Shaykh Anwar al-‘Awlaqi, not 1Islam not anyone. Since when does Islamic information have copyright. This is ridiculous. Fear Allah ta’ala and do what is right.

How can you spread the truth about Islam if you are tied down to a computer that is not portable? Not everyone can afford a Laptop but many people have MP3 players because they are a lot cheaper then a Laptop and more portable. You can’t stick a Laptop in your pocket.

great site honestly the strongest points are the simplistic headpage for easy research and the many scholars to choose and to listen too. The only thing i am missing a bit is maybe a top 10 of most listened lectures or scholars, because most of the time we tend to listen to the same scholars and miss out on some gems. It was regarding the inclusion of certain Sufi speakers like Hamza Yusuf. Now, I have come to know that there are more Sufi speakers like Nuh Ha Mim Keller included in the site. Please do address this issue, because many people might be misled. If you were aware of it, then I wonder why didn’t you let the visitors know?
I hope that your team wasn’t, infact, aware of it, and that now you are aware, please take the necessary steps to make halatube really “halal”. We all are striving to do the right thing, and do let me know if you want reference to any proof for the claim that the above mentioned speakers are Sufis.

I never called myself an adherant of a particular sect. Alhamdullilah, I follow the Qur’an and the Sunnah. And Alhamdulillah, I am very well aware that the Prophet (pbuh) never called himself a sufi, salafi etc.
It is true that Hamza Yusuf initialy, had made lots of contributions with his lectures. I too thought he was a good speaker. But then, I recently came to know that he calls to Sufism, and in his institute, called Zaytuna, lots of innovated Sufi practices go on. Many sheikhs have warned against him. This is a serious thing brother. You must be aware about one thing, innovation (Bid’ah) in religion is a big crime. And it is an obligation upon us, as Muslims to warn against innovaters, even by name, (this is not considered as backbiting) that’s why I was shocked to see this huge collection of Hamza Yusuf’s clips here at Halatube, and I tried contacting them about it, but recieved no reply. Many people are not aware about the fact that Hamza Yusuf calls to Sufism. So here I am, making this statement in a “public” page, hoping that none of my brothers and sisters are misled. And JazakAllahu Khairan for your concern brother. We all intend to do the right thing Insha Allah. So don’t take it to heart. Do some research, and only then reply to this comment. The reason Hamza Yusuf is on here is because believe it or not, there are many people who listen to him and as far as I’m aware most of the lectures are a call to betterment of oneself rather than the proposed “sufi” thinking. I am aware that it has been said that his teachings are a bit “off” but let us not throw away all of his lectures because he is a sufi. Remember the prophet said we must be respectful of each and every human being regardless of whether or not we vehemently disagree with them. I myself have found some of hamza yusuf’s very helpful even though I am not a Sufi. So it depends on who and what you want to believe in or what really sticks with you. Plus if you get rid of him because of his beliefs, you will have to take out some of the other sheikhs and pretty soon you will have like 2-3 sheikhs on this site. This site is amazing because of its diversity and lets not start now on who’s right and who’s wrong.
I have to say that I have listened to Sheikh Yasir Birjas at AlMaghrib and he was absolutely amazing. I had not found his lectures for such a long time and to find it on this website is just absolutely amazing and it feels like I’m actually in the room listening to him instead of on my computer. HalalTube and tv.almaghrib.org are my favorite islamic websites EVER!!! Thank you guys so much!!!
P.S. do you know the sahaba Abdullah ibn Malik? His sayings are given a little more scrutiny when being considered as sahih because what he said is sometimes controversial to what other sahabas said. He was so close to the Prophet yet SOME of what he said cannot be taken very seriously. Many scholars say that because he was so close to the Prophet that when the Prophet died, he changed around some parts of the prayer or some hadiths because he wanted to honor the Prophet so much. He is one of those people that were going to go to Jannah before he had died so you can’t just disregard anything he says and I think that’s how Hamza Yusuf is. You can’t trust everything he says yet you can’t disregard him either. Its up to viewer discretion to make the best decisions and may Allah help us all.

May I start by saying how much I absolutely love HalalTube, it truly has does wonders for my Ilm and Iman.
I have a small suggestion which would help someone like me, whenever I come onto HalalTube I get overwhelmed by the amount of scholars, many of whom I’ve never heard of so I often find myself sticking to the ones I know.
I was wondering if on each Scholar’s page you could put a small Biography about them, that way you can make informed decisions about which ones you want to listen to.
Its just an idea, please forgive me if I’ve offended you in any way.

I am really sorry to read all the mean and hateful comments against other Sheiks simply because one does not agree with them. Making such learned people into Kafirs is just wrong and even possibly haram. I listen a lot and am not hearing the crazy biddah people are talking about from them.
Like the story goes: There was a man who said that everyone except the muslims from his country were going to hell. Then he said but then again, everyone is going to hell except the people from my village. Then again, every one is going to hell except the people from my masjid. Yet still everyone is going to hell except me and the Sheik. Actually then again, that Sheik is off….All that was left was his prideful self and he was obviously the worst of them all. Estagfirallah. May Allah guide us away from arrogance and division and put modesty and humility in our hearts. Ameen.
