[…] Hamza Yusuf – Planning for Tomorrow | Halal Tube […]
Masha Allah, great lecture
Wow now you say “Bush should be prosecuted”? What about those who cheered him on in Congress? Those who stood and clapped when he launched his illegal war on the Muslim world. Are they not party to this crimes as well?
Salaam,
السلام عليكم
ورحمة الله وبركاته
Sheyk Yusuf has spoken many, many times about his now regretful meeting with the Bush administration. Like many people, he was swept up in the aftermath of 9/11. He was asked to make a statement denouncing terrorism by the Bush administration, which he did, and it wasn’t until days later he realized the “spin” Bush and his cronies were putting on the short media event, and how they were preparing to launch a war. I think Hamza Yusuf has been very open and very sincere about his regret (in meeting with Bush) and how he has felt “used.” The Sheyk has spoken openly about this since 2001; the fact that Hamza didn’t lie, contort or twist events to disguise his mistake, and the fact that he has used that word, “mistake,” in reference to the above-mentioned media event, speaks volume about his character. Hamza Yusuf works hard for this ummah. Radiyallahu anhu.
May Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala forgive us all of our transgressions and may he reward our sincere endeavors, for He is Rahman, Most Merciful and He is Rahim, Most Compassionate.
Masha Allah, that was a great talk.
Great speaker. Draws parallels from everywhere which is so great. Very eloquent!
The one recommendation I would make, is that he should lower his pitch. It begins to sound like yelling, and I have to decrease my speaker volume. He has a microphone, which means that he can adopt a lower pitched, conversational tone and still be heard. This is just constructive criticism, because I look forward to listening to more of his speeches! Without lowering my speaker volume though 🙂
A great talk…a great man who speaks the truth. Alhamdulillah! May Allah be pleased with him and protect him and his family.
