thanx.
asaalamualikum. thanks for the knowledge peace
I am pleased someone chose to finally shed light on this. I have pondered it many times before. đ
This only made me wonder about the children of the “unacceptable” forms of conception. Can’t they, as in the rest of us who have sinned/are not perfect, revert to Islam as well?
Dear Salina,
I apologize that this response turned far longer than I planned, but please read through it. I have also summarized it at the end for ease.
Allah holds an individual for his/her own actions. This fact is explicitly mentioned at several places in the Qur’an and the Sunnah (tradition) of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him. For example, in the Qur’an, Chapter 2 verse 286, Allah says
“Allâh burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that (good) which he has earned, and he is punished for that (evil) which he has earnedâŚâ
Those who sin, can hope for His Mercy and Forgiveness by repenting to Him SINCERELY. As can be seen from the prayer taught to us by our Lord Allah, in the remaining part of the above verse
“Our Lord! Punish us not if we forget or fall into error, our Lord! Lay not on us a burden like that which You did lay on those before us; our Lord! Put not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us Forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our Maulâ (Patron, Supporter and Protector, etc.) and give us victory over the disbelieving people.”
In fact, Allah can even forgive a personâs sins even without repentance, EXCEPT SHIRK, IF HE CHOSES. As He says in a verse preceding the above verse that
âTo Allâh belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and whether you disclose what is in your ownselves or conceal it, Allâh will call you to account for it. Then He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allâh is Able to do all things.â (284)
However, I have to stress that one cannot claim this as an excuse for continuing to sin as he may or MAY NOT BE FORGIVEN. The thing that one can be sure of is that âSINCEREâ repentance wipes of sins, not because we deserve but, because Allah is forgiving and He promised us. Also, Ones chance for repentance ends when death approaches a person, and this can happen suddenly without a warning. Hope in Allahâs forgiveness should always be balanced by fear of His punishment to keep ourselves in check.
âDeclare (O Muhammad SAW) unto My slaves, that truly, I am the Oft-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful. And that My Torment is indeed the most painful torment.â (Chapter 15: 49-50)
Lastly, but MOST IMPORTANT, Allah will not forgive SHIRK (that can be manifested as a number of actions including, worshipping other than Allah, worshipping other(s) along with Allah, or giving preference to ones desires or other(s) over what Allah has ordered us to do and refrain from) without REPENTANCE. This is one sin that REQUIRES repentance as a precondition to be forgiven.
SO in SUMMARY,
1. None is responsible for others sins. So children are not responsible if parents conceived them by illegal means.
2. Allah can forgive any sin if He wishes.
3. No forgiveness for âShirkâ without repentance. So repent by becoming Muslim.
4. SINCERE Repentance wipes of any sin. So repent at the earliest.
