Shaykh Muhammad Adeyinka Mendes is an American scholar, teacher, and translator of Nigerian (Yoruba) and Brazilian heritage, based in Atlanta. He began studying the Islamic sciences as a youth and pursued traditional studies with scholars in the US, West Africa, Egypt, and the Hijaz. He is the founder of SacredService for Human Liberation and is known for teaching that weaves together classical Islamic scholarship, African Muslim heritage, and spiritual development, as well as for his translation work including the "prayer of the oppressed" tradition and Yoruba Islamic literature.
